Arvidsjaur is located in the south of Swedish Lapland right between Skellefteå river and Piteå river. We have ~2h by car to the coast destinations in the east, such as Luleå, Piteå and Skellefteå. It’s approximately the same distance to the high mountains in Arjeplog municipality and the Norwegian border in the west.
The route E45, going from Sicily to Karesuando, is passing right through the core of Arvidsjaur with 1-2h by car to Sorsele in the south and Jokkmokk in the north. As described, Arvidsjaur is strategically located between several destinations and sights suitable for daytrips.
Arvidsjaur airport is located only 10 km from the city centrum and act both as a domestic and international airport. Last year the airport had 57 000 passengers where over 50% were international and on a hectic day it can be up to 1500 passenger. From here you have direct flights to Stuttgart, Hannover, Munich, Frankfurt-Hahn, and Birmingham during the high season in winter time, and Stockholm Arlanda year around.
